The story of Osiris begins with the Nuns. The Nuns were the dark waters of chaos. One day a little hill rose from the waters this hill was called "Ben-Ben." In this hill was a god named Atum. This god was the first god. Atum coughed out the god of the air which was named Shu, he also coughed out Tefnut, the goddess of moisture. Shu and Tefnut had two children the first one was Geb the god of the earth the second one was called Nut the goddess of the sky. Shu lifted Nut over Geb like a canopy. Then they had four children named Osiris, Seth, Isis, and Nephthys. Osiris then became the king of the earth and his wife Isis was the queen. But then something went wrong his brother Seth got jealous of him because he wanted to be ruler of the earth so one day he killed Osiris. So Osiris went down to the underworld and Seth became king. However, the son of Osiris and Isis who was named Horus battled Seth to regain the throne after this Horus became ruler of the Earth and Osiris became king of the underworld. Osiris was also known for being the god of resurrection and fertility. Most ancient Egyptians believed that Osiris gave them the gift of barley. For the ancient Egyptians this was a very important crop. A large temple was built to honor Osiris at Abydos. Abydos is a town in Upper Egypt close to the Nile river many Egyptians believe that the head of Osiris has been preserved there. Abydos is known for the memorial temple of "Seti I." On this temple there is a list of most dynastic pharaohs in Egypt in chronological order. And this is the story on the Myth of Osiris.
